Tom Zinkand is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy, earned an MBA from Columbia University, and has over 25 years experience in the evaluation, management, leasing, construction, development, financing, and disposition of real estate assets. From the late 1990s to early 2000s, Zinkand was a consultant for Eastdil U.S. Inc., the premier real estate investment bank in the country. There, he was involved in the disposition of $1.0 billion of high-profile New York City assets owned by Helmsley Enterprises. The properties included 140 Broadway, The Graybar Building, the Flatiron Building, 1466 Broadway, and the Starrett Lehigh Buildings.

Zinkand’s work experience required strong analytical and interpersonal skills, as well as a thorough understanding of diverse real estate investments, including office buildings, shopping centers, residential complexes, and hotels throughout the United States.

The pair teamed up again in the late 1980s, when Zinkand, then a Managing Director at Chemical Bank, took over a stagnant condominium program in Minnesota comprised of four projects. Zinkand took the innovative approach of bringing King in from California to assess the situation, and subsequently retained King New Home Sales and Marketing as the broker. An aggressive and innovative marketing program was implemented, resulting in dramatic sales and financial performance well above the bank’s best-case projections.
